Grand Opening of the Expansion at Our Branch in Reggio Emilia

written by Gabi Olpp on Wednesday, December 18, 2019

Spaces for new thinking – the ideal environment for successful, state-of-the-art innovations.

More than 200 people were present at the opening ceremony, including Mayor Luca Vecchi, the President of the Chamber of Commerce Stefano Landi, the President of Unindustria Reggio Emilia Fabio Storchi and the Delegate of Bishop Tiziano Ghirelli. Luca Bergonzini, the manager of the site, performed the symbolic ribbon-cutting before giving a tour for the guests through the ultra-modern premises.

This expansion increased the production area and offices from 10,000 square meters to 14,300 square meters.

Savvy logistics

Before long, a state-of-the-art, groundbreaking, automated warehouse will replace the traditional warehouse and provide additional space of 2,100 square meters. Three automatic loading units make it possible to plan and reschedule processing activities. The system works around the clock without staff being present.

Smart work environment for smart solutions

Where do people in their daily work have enough freedom for new thinking?

Modern building technology contributes a lot to improving the working environment which impacts the well-being of employees. This has a positive impact on productivity and creativity.

The expansion of the now completed production area, creates ideal conditions for the manufacturing of new and innovative products.

These developments concern both a new range of Open Center Flow Sharing sectional directional valves as well as the new AX axial piston pump and motor series, which is unique on the global market. AX is the result of five years of development, and it was presented for the first time at the Bauma in Munich in April 2019. Bauma is the most important world trade fair for construction machines and components.

Increased efficiency with lean organization

Bergonzini explaines how Bucher Hydraulics has always invested in training young people and employees, which has led to future-oriented internal growth. Throughout the last 18 years, the location has evolved from classic production to a «lean organization» with flexible workstations for assembling and mechanical processing.

In the last two years, more than 50 new employees have been recruited at the site. In the coming years, new products will continue to create jobs for skilled personnel as well as for highly specialized technicians, mechanical and mechatronics engineers.

State-of-the-art materials for sustainable construction

«Our expansion» - explains Bergonzini – «also aims at treating people and the environment with respect in terms of sustainability."  Examples for ultramodern building technology and sustainable construction are the structure of the building, which is highly effective in terms of earthquake protection, energy efficiency, and environmental compatibility. The air conditioning and heating system draw their energy requirements from the photovoltaic system installed on the roof.

Our expansion also aims at treating people and the environment with respect in terms of sustainability.
